For people curious about this event, it is for the adventure seeker. It occurs in August each year and glass floats are hidden around West Seattle in participating businesses and local parks. Float hunters should look high and low for beautiful glass balls peeking out through the mesh of a knotted net bag. Each float will be labeled with a tag so the finder can register their float via the QR code on the tag. Their information, including the float sponsor, will automatically post on the official Float Hunt website. This helps congratulate the finders, celebrate our businesses, and show real-time status for other float hunters. That's it! Finders, keepers.
Each 2025 glass float was individually hand blown by Avalon Glassworks in stunning, swirling pinks and purples. Each 4-inch sphere is stamped with a heart and “WS” on the sealing bottom.
The West Seattle Junction Association and West Seattle Chamber of Commerce welcome float hunters to this energetic and immersive event. Come for the Glass Float Hunt and stay to enjoy the many restaurants, shops, and beautiful views of West Seattle. Happy (glass float!) hunting!
