The Clean and Safety Teams Keep the Junction in Shape

July 22, 2026

The Junction prides itself on being one of the most clean, welcoming, and friendly neighborhoods in Seattle. Housing so many vital and positive businesses, it is especially important that we give them a platform for success. We aim to create a hospitable environment that allows our businesses to thrive.

But of course, the Junction’s businesses wouldn’t thrive without their customers. It is vital that all West Seattle residents and outside visitors feel safe, comfortable and excited while in the Junction. To make this happen, we have installed two programs to keep the neighborhood running smoothly.

The first is the Clean Team. This group, brought to you by Seattle Surface Cleaners, brings a weekly service that keeps our neighborhood fresh. Completing tasks such as litter abatement, sidewalk sweeping and removal of unwanted garbage and graffiti, the Clean Team is responsible for clearing the streets and fostering a sanitary environment. Additionally, we want the beauty of the neighborhood to be expressed and free at all times.

Every month, the Clean Team is incredibly productive. In the month of June, the group cleared 1,815 LBs of garbage, 159 sq ft of graffiti, 88 needles and 89 shopping carts. There is no denying that the team is staying busy.

You can see the Clean Team doing businesses four days a week in the Junction. Including Monday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday.

If you find any graffiti, immense litter or human waste, snap a photo and text to Chris Mackay at 206-502-8824 to have it removed. If you see a large item dumped please report it to Find it Fix It so the city can pick it up.

Working in conjunction with the Clean Team is the Safety Team. The Safety Team is a private security team led by Fortis Security that consistently patrols the neighborhood in an effort to ensure the safety, protection and comfort of all Junction visitors. The Safety Team is incredibly friendly and community driven while focusing on de-escalating conflicts and giving individuals the services they need.

While the Safety Team is there for your protection, it is important to rely upon your other resources as well. If you witness a crime or are an immediate danger, call 911 and provide as many details as possible. You can also report issues to Regional Online Portal.

These services are in place to make the Junction the best place it can be. We strongly value our visitors and businesses and will stop at nothing to ensure their satisfaction, safety and comfort.
