West Seattle Gear Grab

Announcing The First Annual West Seattle Gear Grab / Saturday Sept 19th
The Premier West Seattle Specialty Gear Shops Clearance Event*

Gear Grab

Surrounded by water and bisected by trails, West Seattle is seeing a surge in not only the population base, but in the number of independent specialty outdoor shops calling this neighborhood its home. If your thing is catching sea run cutthroats off Lincoln park, cycle commuting to get your workout in as you slog through the work week, SUPing and kayaking with resident harbor seals off Duwamish head, or heading up to ski and snowboard in the Cascades – this is an event not to miss!

Mountain to Sound Outfitters, Emerald Water Anglers, and West Seattle Cyclery are joining together on Saturday Sept 19th from 10-4 for a flea market style Gear Grab. Each shop will be clearing out their storage spaces, back shops, and selling demo gear to get ready for the upcoming winter season and keep the retail wheels rolling. The West Seattle Junction Association will be providing the site for the Gear Grab at the North end of the Parking Lot at Oregon and 42nd (across from Emerald Water Anglers). Deals will be had, and this will event will occur rain or shine.

Emerald Water Anglers Manager, Reid Curry, is excited for the event and the opportunity to share his passion with customers. “We are incredibly lucky in West Seattle to be literally surrounded by year round fly fishing opportunities for a diversity of species.  Within just an hour of our shop, a fly angler can fish the saltwater of Puget Sound for salmon and sea run cutthroat one day, catch native cutthroat and rainbows in tiny mountain creeks the next, and swing a fly for steelhead on our renowned rivers thereafter…and that is only the beginning of the fly angling opportunities in our region.”

So come out and celebrate the amazing area we live in and support your local specialty shops which call The Junction and Triangle neighborhoods of West Seattle home!

Ben Chasny at The Pegasus Book Exchange

The Pegasus Book Exchange will be hosting their first in-store event in 31+ years this Sunday. They will have Ben Chasny (musician from Comets on Fire and Six Organs of Admittance) visiting the store on August 23rd at 4pm. He will be discussing The Hexadic System, his spring 2015 released book which details a new way of composing music using a simple deck of playing cards as a tool.

Ben used his Hexadic System to write and record the latest release from Six Organs of Admittance, also entitled “Hexadic” (released February 2015 on Drag City). Last year in a blog post, Ben talked more about this novel approach to composing, how he worked to develop it over many years, and how it’s helped to shape his expression and voice as a musician.

To learn more about this unique system and to hear Ben describe it in his own words, please join The Pegasus Book Exchange for this special in-store event. The event is free to the public. There will be copies of the book for sale as well.
