Be a Part of the West Seattle Live Like a Local and Savings Guide

				<![CDATA[]]>

West Seattle is growing quickly. Every month, over 400 people move to West Seattle, and the Junction making it the third fastest-growing neighborhood in Seattle. Despite this, our 2017 report found that many businesses have not seen an increase in their business traffic commensurate with the population growth in West Seattle. Many business owners worry that this trend will only continue, with one business owner saying, “That’s my greatest fear, that West Seattle will become a bedroom community for downtown.” In addition, many people interviewed for the report said they felt that the community was bifurcating, with older, more established residents having a strong sense of community, but new residents and business owners missing out on that sense of community. “People are lonely,” said a local neighbor, “they need friends.” This 2018 grant cycle through the Office of Economic Development is for a pilot program to see if a concentrated marketing effort is effective. Specific sales and coupons will be trackable and measurable. Once we find what works (or what doesn’t work) in this program, we can potentially replicate it as an ongoing yearly project. By proving its efficacy, we will make it a clear solution for small businesses to support in order to get affordable, effective marketing. Goal: Develop a marketing campaign to integrate new residents into the West Seattle community.

FAQs

How many Swag bags are being created in this Pilot Program? 800 When does the Swag need to be delivered to the WS Chamber or Junction office November 1, 2018 Is there a limit on branded Swag items promoting my business? Yes. Only 1 branded Swag item per business. Are brochures accepted? One of our goals for the swag bag was to not include brochures because research shows people tend to throw them away quickly when given in a NEW Resident Swag Bag. We find that people tend to hang on to the Savings Guide for future purchases. With this in mind, we have the coupon – which is a template with your logo and your promo. To keep the price of the coupon extremely reasonable, we create this coupon to promote your business from the information you give us: Coupon Notes: Your logo or promo picture must be pdf or jpg sized for 600 px x 450 px (or 2”W x 1.5”H). Each coupon will be 2 color – black & white To get the most out of this Swag Bag, what should I do? Provide 800 items of branded swag and a coupon in the Savings Book. TELL all of the businesses in West Seattle about this opportunity. The more businesses participating makes the Savings Guide more valuable. I do not have swag and I do not want to be in the Savings Guide. Is there another option? YES Our goal is to increase the new resident awareness of businesses in West Seattle. We realize that not everyone is going to want to purchase a $20 (WSCC member rate) coupon and not everyone has branded swag. With that in mind, we are creating an awareness page with just the name of the business listed. When will Swag bags be stuffed? November 15, 2018 12 Noon at the Senior Center (lunch provided)– anyone can join this party. When will Swag bags go out for distribution? November 15, 2018 bags will be delivered to property managers, realtors and community leaders to be distributed to NEW residents. This results in Swag Bags being delivered throughout Nov, Dec and possibly Jan (until they run out of Swag bags). I do not have swag and I do not want to be in the Savings Guide.
