Zucchini 500 at the West Seattle Farmers Market

Zucchini 500

The Neighborhood Farmers Markets’ Annual Zucchini 500 Races have been a Seattle tradition for over a decade! The 2015 races have been made possible by a generous sponsorship from Pagliacci Pizza. Each race will be accompanied by the opportunity to learn how to hand-toss pizza dough, just like they do at Pagliacci. Kids of all ages are invited to build and decorate their own unique zucchini car, then race against the other vegetable roadsters! The event is free and open to the public. All necessary materials are provided.

Fermentation

Also join the West Seattle Farmers Market for Fermentation on Wheels this Sunday at the Market. Fermentation on Wheels is a traveling culinary research hub with a mission to harvest & preserve, encourage sustainability, and teach fermentation. Tara Whitsitt, founder of Fermentation on Wheels, will be on site at the market to teach a Wild Vegetable Fermentation Workshop and Starter Culture Swap inside her converted 1986 International Harvest school bus! This workshop is process-based and hands-on, with a focus on culinary creativity and troubleshooting guidance. Followed by a brief forum on starter cultures and tour of the bus.
