Shirley Valentine opens at ArtsWest Playhouse on Wednesday, January 23, 2013! Shirley Valentine tells the story of a woman in her ‘40s who is stuck in a rut, unsure of how to get her groove back. When Shirley’s best friend gets tickets for two to Greece, she packs her bags, leaves a note on the kitchen table, and sets off on an adventure. Like Eat, Pray, Love, the trip takes us on a journey of self-discovery, soul-searching, love and renewal. Footlight Award Winner (As Bees in Honey Drown) Heather Hawkins returns to ArtsWest to star in this funny, poignant, one-woman show. Noted among the most influential postwar British plays by the Victoria and Albert Museum, the play also earned a Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Comedy in 1988 and Tony Award nomination for Best Play.
