Turkey Dinner at the Senior Center

 

It’s not yet Thanksgiving but who says you can’t have some turkey? The Senior Center of West Seattle is going to have a Donate What You Can Fundraising Dinner, on May 21st, 5:30pm.  They are raising funds to defray the cost of a new front door ($2,800) and would love to have you all for a turkey dinner. There will also be live music by “The Band Jam.”

Trunk Show at Clementine

That one dress that fits most body types and can be worn for every occasion. Wear it for work with a cardigan then straight to happy hour sans the cardigan. You can wear it with heels or flats, this dress is perfect! Where can you find this dress? Well we’ll tell you.

Clementine will be hosting a trunk show with April Pride, tomorrow, May 16th, from 3 to 8pm.  April is an interior designer and decided to design The Dress to embrace Seattle’s dressed up/down lifestyle. The Dress is made to order in Seattle with a 6-week lead-time, and retails for $295 (shipping included). In addition to the dress, there will be limited edition and one-of-a-kind items that are for sale at the event. Check out their video to see how the dress works.

Fleurt Delivers

So we had two posts about Mother’s Day. The one thing we were missing on those two posts were flowers. If you are one of those people that does some things pretty last minute, well don’t fret. Fleurt is the only flower shop in town that delivers flowers on Mother’s Day itself.

They’re not only delivering flowers but they can also deliver plants, terrariums and a huge assortment of gifts that are thoughtfully wrapped.  So in addition to those flowers, you can also get your loved one, jewelry, bubble baths, scented candles and lotions. Mother’s Day at the Junction, Part 2

Mother’s Day, Dining Version

If you didn’t get to read our post from last night, we talked about what’s going on at retail stores at the West Seattle Junction. This time we’re doing the dining version. If you still haven’t figured out where to take your mom for mother’s day, we have some options for you.

The great thing about this week is that it’s been warm and sunny. What perfect time to get some FREE ice cream sandwiches for the lovely momma’s at Cupcake Royale West Seattle.

If ice cream sandwiches aren’t for you and you would like something warm instead, Hotwire Online Coffeehouse has a special Mother’s Day coffee blend that they are serving now through Sunday. Every mom will also receive a complimentary flower and special coupons on Mother’s Day.

For bruncheroo options, stop by Elliot Bay Brewery if you want your mom to get a lovely single carnation. West 5, on the other hand, is providing a complimentary Momosa when you bring your mom in for brunch.

If you like to get an early start to your day,  La Romanza, will be opening an hour early and will start Mother’s Day brunch at 9:30am. Which is perfect because there are lots going on at the Junction and around West Seattle for Mother’s Day.

For the beer loving momma’s (or the guys who are waiting while the ladies are out and about), you can stop by The Beer Junction for their Trappist beer and cheese tasting event. Alejandro Garcia, from specialty beer importer Merchant Du Vin, will be guiding folks through the history of Trappist beers. The tasting event goes from noon to 2pm.

Lastly, for the lovely people who want to make dinner for their mom’s or for any mom who wants to make an easy healthy dinner. Dream Dinners has a Made for You complimentary service. It’s easy and details are below.

Mother’s Day at the Junction, Part 1

The West Seattle Junction is excited to celebrate every lovely momma! There are lots going on at the West Seattle Junction for Mother’s Day. You can take your mom out for a little retail therapy, some brunch, coffee or some bubbly.  So we hope you’d like what the Junction has to offer.

We’re making this a two-part post and this one will be our retail version.

Silhouette Artist at Curious Kidstuff

Just in time for Mother’s Day, Curious Kidstuff will have silhouette artist, Kerry Cook in their store! Kerry will be making hand cut originals of you or your kiddos silhouettes. It only takes a few minutes and silhouettes are perfect for framing and to be displayed at your home. Make sure to call Curious Kidstuff to make an appointment because seating is limited.

Weekend Events and Cinco de Mayo

Saturday, May 4th

Matador begins their weekend long Cinco de Mayo celebrations by having some drink specials! Their specials go from Saturday to Sunday.  Ta nan ta na na na nan… tequila!!!

Jewelry Launch at Click! from 11am – 5pm. Karen Konzuk will be displaying her new collection, Orbis.  She will also share her techniques and processes on how she creates her gold and concrete pieces. More details here.

Get inspired at Twilight Gallery and Boutique from 7pm-9pm, for a night of new creative nonfiction, Works in Progress: Featuring Local Non-fiction Writers. They’re also keeping their gallery and store open for late night shopping so there’s tons of fun to be had! More details here. 

Sunday, May 5th

West Seattle Farmer’s Market, highlights for this weekend are, fresh herbs, goat and sheep cheese, daikon radish, endive, tomato starts, frozen and dried fruit, and cauliflower! We see the beginnings of a lot of salad making!

Fresh Bistro is hosting their first La Caja Style roasted local pig for Cinco de Mayo brunch! This Mexican brunch with specialty cocktails and finished with a delicious flan, goes from 11am – 2pm. $16 per person and reservations are recommended.

Cupcake Royale is also celebrating Cinco de Mayo. For the whole month of May they will have lemon cake topped with lime buttercream spiked with tequila and finished with a rim of salt and sugar. Muy delicioso!!

Jewelry Launch at Click! – May 4th

Karen Konzuk and her collection of contemporary wedding bands and engagement rings will be making an appearance at Click! Design that Fits on Saturday, May 4th from 11am to 5pm.

Konzuk, a Canadian who is inspired by industrial and architectural lines, will also be answering your questions on the techniques and the long processes she uses to create her amazing pieces. On this same day, she is also launching her new gold and concrete collection, Orbis.

So if you like clean lines, contemporary pieces or maybe something different to wear, visit Click! on May 4th and find great pieces that you can get for yourself, your loved one, or maybe even for your mom. Remember, Mother’s Day is coming up.

Art Dive at the West Seattle Summer Fest

The sun is slowly making it’s way to Seattle and we are getting ready for it.  West Seattle Summer Fest is only a few months away and it’s going to be exciting this year! We are on the planning stages but don’t worry we will be giving you all some sneak peaks of the planning process through our Instagram, Twitter and Facebook accounts.

Speaking of planning stages, Twilight Gallery and Boutique is sponsoring the Art Dive at the West Seattle Summer Fest and they are looking for artists and crafters that would like to sell their work at the event.

West Seattle Junction Weekend Events

If you still haven’t seen our posts on Facebook and Twitter, this weekend is going to be a big one for the West Seattle Junction. Below are a couple of West Seattle events happening and we want to make sure you won’t miss it.

Saturday, April 20th

Tax Free Day!!! One day, all day tax-free shopping and dining at participating Junction businesses. Look no further for your Mother’s Day gifts because you’ll probably get everything you’ll need at the Junction.

Record Store Day at Easy Street Records! Not only do you get to keep your record collection going but there will also be an album signing by the Mad Season. Easy Street will open their doors at 7am. Mad Season signing will be from 10am – 11am. You can hang out at the cafe and get your coffee on while you contemplate on the next album you want to get.

Live Jazz at La Romanza Bistro Italiano. After a long day of shopping, it would be appropriate to listen to some great music and have some great food while thinking about what a great deal you had at Tax Free Day.

Sunday, April 21st

West Seattle Farmer’s Market at the Junction. Catch up on your grocery shopping and get what’s in season. Pea Vines/Shoots, Rhubarb and asparagus are in abundance.

Fleurt Celebrates Earth Day at the West Seattle Junction. Drop off your vases and planters for recycling, get a mini plant to take home and a chance to win a terrarium made by Fleurt.

Heels for Hounds. Two of our fellow Junction Merchants, Hotwire Online Coffeehouse and Clementine Shoes, are participating in this silent auction and wine tasting event to benefit the Furry Faces Foundation. You can bid for shoes and help a furry little one too. Not a bad combination. The event starts at 3pm at Ola Salon. For more info click here.

Fleurt Celebrates Earth Day

Fleurt is giving back to the community twice this weekend by participating at Tax Free Day on April 20th, and they will be holding their 3rd annual event of, Recycle Your Vase and Planter Day, to celebrate Earth Day on April 22nd.

The recycling event will be this Saturday and Sunday, April 20th and 21st. You can drop off your vases and planters at Fleurt, and when you do, you will receive a cute mini plant to take home. PLUS! they will also be hold a raffle on both days and the prize will be a lovely terrarium made by Fleurt.

So what’s not to love about tax-free shopping, a cute mini plant, and a chance to win a terrarium?

Knife Skills 102 at JF Henry – April 25th!

Curious about the kitchen terms chiffonade or supreming a citrus fruit? Do you need a little help with your knife skills? JF Henry at the West Seattle Junction answers your questions and will show you how at a Knife Skills 102 class on Thursday, April 25th from 5:30 – 7:30pm.

There will be lots of fruits and veggies to practice on. There will also be a chicken break down involved. No, it will not be a crying chicken, but it would be interesting to see one won’t it?

Robert Delong In-Store at Easy Street – April 18th!

One man electropop musician, Robert DeLong, will be dropping beats with his drums and gaming consoles at Easy Street Records on Thursday, April 18th at 7pm.

DeLong is a Seattle native whose new single, Global Concepts, is taking the airwaves by storm. He will be playing at several festivals this year but to watch him up close as he creates his loops will be a special treat for us Seattlelites.

West Seattle Art Walk – April 11th

With a spring in our step we delve into another round of the West Seattle Art Walk that’s happening this Thursday, April 11th, from 6pm – 9pm.

Amazing local artists will be displaying their artwork at participating Junction Merchant establishments including work by RobRoy Chalmers called the “Sporozoan Lore” at Twilight Gallery and Boutique. Also on display at Twilight are intricate handmade pieces of headdresses, “Creatrix” by Willow.

Sarah Loertscher, is not only displaying her metal jewelry collection but also drawings that are rendered in metal. Her highly detailed artwork will be available for display at Click!.

This spring quarter’s poster and postcard artwork are by the late Emily Williamson, who has inspired a lot of people in our West Seattle community.

Tax Free Day – April 20th!

The Junction’s Got Your Back by Paying Your Tax!

You don’t have to drive down to Oregon to shop and dine tax-free because the West Seattle Junction is giving you a break.  On April 20th, over 40 Junction Merchants are giving you a day of fun without added taxes.  This One Day Only event will also include food and drink specials from participating restaurant and coffee shops.

Fashion Spring Fling is Back – April 4th

It’s time to clean out and make space in your closets because the annual West Seattle Junction Fashion Spring Fling is back. Fill up your closets and shoe racks (If you want to do it Imelda Marcos style) with items from Carmilia’s, Clementine, Edie’s, and Sweetie. Visit participating stores to get a punch card. A full card will get you a complimentary glass of bubbly from West 5! There will be door prizes too!

 

Remember to bring donations for the food bank!

A Terrible Beauty Easter Brunch and Dinner!

A Terrible Beauty is hosting a 3 course Easter Brunch and Dinner on Sunday. Check out their menu below if the flyer above is not enough to convince you to have some yummy in the tummy. The kiddos will be famished after the Easter Egg Hunt, so what perfect way to cap a lovely day with some comforting Irish food.

Easter Brunch is from 9am – 3pm, Easter Dinner from 3pm – 10pm. Remember to make reservations!

Easter Weekend Plans – March 30th and 31st!

Don’t miss out on the events in West Seattle and the Junction this Easter as egg hunts and brunches are happening all around. Easter egg hunts are on Saturday and Sunday so there’s lots of eggs for the kiddos to find.

West Seattle Easter Egg Hunt
On Saturday, March 30th, West Seattle Community Centers will host egg hunts at 10am. You can choose from  Alki, Delridge, Hiawatha, High Point and South Park Community Centers. On Sunday, March 31st, the big egg hunt at the Junction will be at the West Seattle Farmer’s Market from 10am – 2pm! The event also includes face painting by Blue Geisha Tattoo. Market Shopping + Easter Egg Hunt + Face Painting = Fun for All! 


West Seattle Easter Brunch Options
As for the treats and yummies, have Easter brunch at La Romanza Bistro Italiano with some Eggs Benedict al Rustico or Insalata Panzanella for the vegetarian. Not feeling brunchish, you can watch their live jazz music on Saturday at 6pm.

Ma’Ono also offers some brunch options that you can try. Maybe a little taste of Hawaii would remind us that after spring comes summer warmth. Brunch hours are Saturday and Sunday from 10am – 2pm.

Cupcake Royale is joining in on the Easter theme by baking us some lovely Coconut Bunny cupcakes! They also have some Toasted Coconut Lime, Lemon Mascarpone and Pistachio Lemon available if one flavor is not enough. New Spring Assortment flavors are out as well so check it out! They’re available until May 1st.
